Daniel Koch | Patchwork Architecture

Overview

Daniel Koch is an Architect and PhD working as designing architect, writer, researcher and teacher. Graduating from the KTH School of Architecture in 2002, this was followed by a licentiates degree in 2004 and a doctoral thesis in 2007 (www.arch.kth.se/SAD), parallel to which he worked on design projects such as the competition regarding Lund 's Cathedral and the Crafts School (see the portfolio) and on urban analysis projects such as the analysis of the Slussen proposals by SpaceScape.

Among publications he has several internationally published scientific papers as well as articles in Arkitektur (Swedish Journal of Architecture) and SITE Magazine. The Doctoral Thesis Structuring Fashion: Department Stores as Situating Spatial Practice is published by AxlBooks. He is also a reoccuring lecturer on library conferences and seminars.

Daniel lives in Nacka Strand southeast of Stockholm, and has applied for funding of further research to several instances, and is currently doing part-time research in co-operation with Karolinska Institutet regarding Urban Form and Health, and on a Scholarship for Urban Form and Local Economies. He will also be teaching at the Urban Planning and Design Masters' Programme as well as the Building Engineering programme at KTH parallel to the work in Patchwork.
